North Costa rica here we come

North Costa Rica, means that we had to make our way up the mountain hills, changing plans, get to really use the 4 wheel drive and see the landscape change from hilled, to flat, to sea cost.

Driving up..

Destination – North Costa Rica – We drove a long side lake Arenal. Making our way up to north Costa Rica. Imagine a lake, volcanos and sunset incredible! like my mom I kept saying “Wow it is so beautiful, look how beautiful it is! Omg it is so incredible!” and felt truly blessed. On the way we saw a little monkey bear so cute and rare to see! We had not booked a place to stay.. and when it got dark well it was really hard to see anything and find a place to stay. We found a hotel and it was cheap the owner had to leave so we where all alone! For me it felt like I was on a gost hotel I was SO scared! If I should do it again I would book something..

Rio celeste y Los Tenideros

I had read about this from back home and was so exited to see this azur blue water in the middle of the jungle. This where the only time we needed our 4 wheel drive and could not have done it without. It took a lot of time to get there shifting between god roads and mostly very small and bad once. The last hour was on these small bumpy roads. We actually turned around to try to take another road which gave us almost 1 hour more on the bumpy road. So a tip from here when you have chosen a bumpy road just ride it out! When we got there, the people wanted us to pay for parking, but we just parked on the main road and did not have to pay. But you have to pay to get in on the trail. After many hours of bumpy roads and headaches we where not really up for a 3 hour walk as it takes. I just really wanted to se the water. We drove a bit more and over a small bridge here we climbed our way down and I got to see it. I was very pleased and we drank a almost cold beer and enjoy the cold water and warm sun. If you do what we did be carefull the stones are sharp and slippery and it can be dangerous. Honestly not the drive worth. Maybe if we had known ore planned it better we could had walked those 3 hours because els it is not worth it!

We need something els..

After many days in the main land with volcanos, hikes and adventures we needed some relaxing time and some changes in the climate and landscape. So we drove all the way to Playa del Coco where I had booked a room at Hotel M&M just down to the beach. This place was so nice and chill! We had 2 nights and there where breakfast included and you could use the kitchen for making food. The laundry service we also had to use after days of hiking and wet clothes it will start to smell adr! The view from the balcony was out to the beach and people where really nice! Playa del Coco is touristy which is not always bad because then you can get really nice food and cute coffee places. We had a storm one evening an after seeing the sunset on the beach we sad out on the balcony an watch the sky on fire with lightnings.

What is the plan?

From here we had to decide what to do next. We looked at echother and where just thinking the same thought “why not cross the boarder and go to Nicaragua?” So many had spoken so well about it and it sounded so cool.
So we I did some reacherch and the day after we packed the car and left for Penas blancas. There is many ways to cross the boarder you can not cross with a rental car so we had to find another way. Look here for full explaining of how to cross the boarder. Here you can follow our advices from our adventures in Nicaragua.

Hola Pura vida

When we got back from Nicaragua we went down to Tamarindo in, north Costa Rica, a surfer beach where we started out with a lovely evening swim! We wanted to drive around in the north but our adventures in Nicaragua was so cool that we where up for more. So in the morning after one night we went for the beach and at lunch time we got back on the road ready to cross a country and cross a new boarder this time for Panama.

One night..

We had to have one more night in Costa Rica so we could cross the boarder in the morning. We thought of staying in Limón because Puerto viejo de talamanca felt far away and we where tiered and the weather was bad. But not a nice city to arrive at late in the evening. We ended up in Chuita half past 11 where a young man woke up a man who kindly took us in for one night. From here the next morning we could get ready and cross our way to Panama.
